Theme	Inspired by Key West, this is the very first Vacation Club resort. It was built around the Lake Buena Vista golf course, so there are plenty of beautiful views.
Central Building	The Hospitality House is home to registration, restaurants, shopping and recreation.
Resort Layout	Two and Three story buildings are scattered around the golf course. They are white with pastel trim and have plenty of walkways.

Opening Year	1992
History	The original Vacation Club property, Old Key West heralded a new era for Disney resorts. Taking the timeshare concept and giving it a Disney twist - points (a concept now frequently mimicked, but to varying degrees of success). Take the charm of Key West and strip away the touristy ticky-tack and you'll have Old Key West. The various buildings were positioned around the existing Lake Buena Vista golf course - providing great views of fairways and water features. Despite being several hundred miles North of the famed island, Old Key West has inherited some of it's namesakes relaxed spirit - things are just a little calmer here.
History	Originally called Disney's Vacation Club Resort until 1996 when the Boardwalk Villas opened.
Design	The Orlando firm of Fugelberg Koch & Associates of San Diego was responsible for the design of Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Dixie Landings Resort, Disney's Port Orleans Resort and Disney's Old Key West Resort. Each of these reflects distinct geographical styles of architecture taken from the old South and the islands of the Caribbean.
Christmastime	Nothing too grand here, but plenty of Florida/nautical/tropical decorations to get you in the spirit.

Registration

Late check out	can be requested the night before check-out
Early arrival	Be sure to Check-in at the Registration desk upon arrival, the room may be ready early, or at the very least they'll give a phone number you can call from any house phone in WDW to get you're room number - therefore you don’t have to go back to the registration desk.
Express Check out	Upon arrival you can leave a credit card on your room account. It can then be used to make charges to your room during your stay. And then, the morning you leave, an itemized bill will be on your door handle. If there are any problems, then you can contact the Front Desk - otherwise you're all set and can leave without going back to Registration.
Magical Express	For those of you flying into Orlando Intl Airport, Disney is making it even easier to get to their World. You’re given special tags to put on your luggage. Then when you arrive in Orlando, just get on the Magical Express bus – they’ll take you to your resort to check in. You go off and have fun, and you’re bags show up in your room later that day. Before your departure, you'll get a letter saying when you should be at the lobby to check your bags and catch your bus to the airport.

Buses	There are 5 bus stops around the resort.

Walkway	A very long (about 1 mile) walkway leads along the Sassagoula River and Lake Buena Vista golf course to Saratoga Springs or to Downtown Disney West Side.

Pros	Relaxed resort, nice atmosphere.
Pros	Boat to Marketplace is really nice
Cons	You’ll have to bus mostly everywhere, and sometimes they don’t run very often (20-30 minutes).
