We often hear about the magic of taking young children to Walt Disney World. Those wide eyes, spontaneous hugs for Mickey, and pure belief in fairytales. But here’s the part no one really talks about; how equally magical (and maybe even more surprising) it is to return with those same kids once they’ve grown up. Recently, I did just that, and it reminded me that the magic never really fades. It just grows with us.
The Story:

And I completely agree.
But what no one ever talks about is how important it is to take them back once they’ve grown up. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of visiting The Walt Disney World Resort with my two nieces and nephew. Their first visit? They were all under the age of 7, obsessed with Hannah Montana and asking if Cinderella was real.
Flash forward 15 years, and those same wide-eyed kids are now university students, have joined the workforce, and are full-time social butterflies. So, when I casually mentioned a family trip to Walt Disney World, I half-expected polite excuses and scheduling conflicts. Instead, I got enthusiastic “YES PLEASE!” replies within seconds.
As young adults, I knew they’d experience the magic differently. I expected them to appreciate the dining (hello, EPCOT), the cocktails (Food and Wine Festival, anyone?), and the technology behind experiences such as Avatar – Flight of Passage. And yes, they certainly did.
But what I didn’t expect was for them to turn into those same little kids again.
They skipped down Main Street, laughed at the corny jokes on Jungle Cruise, screamed their heads off on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and raced each other to see who could meet Edna Mode first. No shame, no sarcasm, just pure joy.
And the look on my nephew’s jaw dropped face, as we were suddenly transported onto a Star Destroyer during Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance? That moment alone was worth every step, every penny, and every single minute it took to get us there. Because in that instant, I wasn’t looking at an employed young adult. I was looking at a kid who still believed in magic.
Walt Disney World doesn’t just let you escape real life. It lets you time travel. It bridges the years between child and adulthood, between who you were and who you’ve become. And just like that, you realize: the magic hasn’t changed…you have.
The world tells you to grow up. But at Walt Disney World, you don’t have to.
